Sounds interesting. I was recently wondering if there were any manga with undersea locations as I don’t remember seeing any anime with that setting.

Not a common setting but there are a few, OTOH mostly older military shows. Blue Submarine No. 6, Mars Daybreak, Tide-Line Blue, IIRC Full Metal Panic! spent a good chunk of time in a submarine as well. Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet is a more recent example.

For decidedly less military affair, Amanchu! deals with diving, and Children of the Sea and Lu Over the Wall are also ocean-themed movies.

Oh and basically most (any?) mermaid show, like My Bride is a Mermaid (scraping bottom of my memory here), Muromi-san. I want to say Squid Girl but it mostly takes place on land.

So probably a lot of girls in swimsuits, I imagine.

If they're gonna be honest, 'School Submarine Fleet: Mermaid Girls centers on humanity's fight against terror from the deep' would be 'School Submarine Fleet: Mermaid Girls centers on lolis in swimsuits'.

Not a lot but Blue Sub No 6 (as mentioned), Arpeggio of Blue Steel, Waga Na wa Umishi, Amanchu (about a diving club, though a lot of it is on land). Heck, if you allow that there's too many (like Grand Blue Dreaming) so I'll stop. For manga there's Deep Sea Aquarium Magmell (Magmell Shinkai Suizokukan), Mikane and the Sea Woman (after a start on land), Waters, Underwater Prince Coral, Yokosuka Underwater Gurntai, 6000 (Deep Sea of Madness), Salacia, DEEP, Ryuugu Town is at the Bottom of the Sea, Suiheisen no Shachi, must be more but not coming to mind.
