Not sure why there's such a big push for Sand Land all of a sudden decades after it originally came out with an anime and now this, but it looks pretty interesting. A pleasant surprise announcement. Initially thought it was a Trigun Stampede game or something when the trailer started.

The gameplay looks fun and it looks like a good recreation of the manga.

I saw some posts in a gaming forum that Bandai Namco believe Sand Land has potential to become a successful IP with the soon to be released movie and this video game adaptation. Me and others aren't very convinced, I'm not too sure just because Akira Toriyama created it means it will be successful, especially outside of Japan. Dr. Slump isn't very well known to most people, and other projects in which Toriyama worked just as an artist like Blue Dragon weren't successful either. Some people even say, though I'm not sure if they're serious, that Dragon Quest isn't as popular as other RPGs in the West due to Toriyama's artstyle.
I also wonder why Bandai-Namco decided to skip the Switch as a platform for the game, I guess they can't make the game run on the system, but considering the Switch is the leading platform in Japan and PS software being incredible low these days, the game is going to have some trouble to find an audience

Oh that’s most definitely not true especially post 95/96.

Well it is coming to the PS4 which I presume most people in Japan have more likely than PS5 and also PC. The other thing you have the remember is that games in Japan don’t have to sell a million copies usually to be a success.

This seems like a better way to explore the story than that awful looking Anime.

Strange thing to milk. I agree it looks better than the anime.

A two-part multimedia project involving a CG movie and a video game is the farthest thing from "milking" I'd argue, but okay.
