posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The Pokémon Company revealed a new Pokémon smartphone game app titled Pokéland on Wednesday. The game will be for iOS and Android devices, and is currently running an open alpha test for the first 10,000 players for the Android version in Japan from Wednesday until June 9. Players can register for the open alpha on the game's website. The game has no specified release date.
The game allows players to acquire onscreen "toy Pokémon" and then use them in battle. The toy Pokémon can become stronger, learning and improving skills. Players acquire them by fighting and then befriending them.
The alpha version includes six islands, 52 different stages, a "Champion Tower" with 15 floors, and 134 Pokémon.
Niantic Labs' Pokémon Go smartphone app launched in select countries including the United States on July 6, and has since launched in more than 50 countries. A separate Magikarp Jump app debuted last week.
