Dragon Ball Voice Actress Masako Nozawa Receives Japanese Government's Child Welfare Award

The official Twitter account of voice actress Masako Nozawa's Gekidan Moonlight theater troupe revealed on Tuesday that the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare awarded Nozawa with its Special Award. The Child Welfare Award from both the Foundation for Promoting Sound Growth of Children and the Child Welfare Foundation recognizes her contributions to the sound upbringing of children.

Nozawa has voiced roles in more than 200 anime, but is probably most known for her role as Goku in Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. She has also played Tetsuro Hoshino in Galaxy Express 999, Dr. Kureha in One Piece, Kitarō in Gegege no Kitarō, and Guilmon in Digimon Tamers. She voiced the character Medama Oyaji in this year's Gegege no Kitarō anime. She has also been involved with radio and TV narrations, as well as the dubbing of American movies such as The Poseidon Adventure, Richie Rich, and Meet the Parents.
